The Ultra Violets

ultravioletWritten by Sophie Bell, Illustrated by Chris Battle

The Ultra Violets is a fun, easy to read book. The story is about four elementary girls whose mothers are all scientists. There are some very funny, scary things going on in their town. While at a sleep-over at the lab one night they get splattered with a bubbling, genetically altering substance. Turns out it changes them and gives them interesting powers. One can dance, and I don’t mean just dance. She can REALLY dance! One is now a super math genius. One can change the colors of anything; in fact she can change what they totally look like. But what powers does the fourth one have? She doesn’t seem to have any new powers. Things get very exciting as the girls get older and discover how to use their powers. This book has a lot of messages about right and wrong, friendship, families and taking care of others. It really is a good read.
