Mysterious Traveler

mysterioustravelerWritten by Mal Peet and Elspeth Graham, Illustrated by P.J. Lynch

Don’t judge a book by its cover. As Issa, an old desert guide, loses his vision, it is assumed he can no longer guide visitors through the rough terrain of the land he knows so well. Mariama, a gift from the desert, an orphan, and a blessing for Issa, helps him thorough the loss of his vision. After saving the lives of three travelers, who dismissed Issa because of his blindness, it is discovered that Mariama is more than an orphan. Beautiful illustrations accompany the story and give the reader clues as to what Jin Jin is, and how stunning and dangerous the desert can be.
