Glamorous Garbage

Glamorous GarbageBy Barbara Johansen Newman

Joanie goes over to play at her cousin Bobbie’s house but her room is too packed with things to play in comfortably. Bobbie’s mom gives her two weeks to change how and which things can exist in her room. After the two weeks her mom said she would have to come in and help make the decisions. Bobbie gets creative and comes up with a plan. Unfortunately it would cost a lot of money. Bobbie and Joanie go shopping and collecting together. Bobbie comes home with lots more stuff for her room even though Joanie says that these new (to her) things won’t help. Joanie loses a favorite toy in the messy room and leaves. So now what should Bobbie do?

This is a second adventure for these cousins. They first had an adventure in Glamorous Glasses. There are fun web site games and pictures for kids who are interested in these books.

This book may help some parents and children problem solve together their own issues on this topic. Bobbie’s mom is supportive and responsible. Her mom doesn’t go out and spend a lot of money because Bobbie created a plan. She does love and support her though. She also helps her sort things into keep, fix, and give away piles for her things. Similar to how Peter Walsh would have helped. One gets the idea this is a somewhat autobiographical story. It is nice everyone is able to work together.
