Scholastic 2015 Almanac For Kids

Scholastic 2015 Almanac For KidsWritten by Lynn Brunelle, Jim Brunelle, Delia Greve, Monique Peterson

Kids will enjoy finding a little of everything in this book. There are movies, math, maps and a myriad of other topics. There are lists of large and small states, sports trivia, the multiplication table, celebrity birthdays and other facts all rolled into this book. There are current topics, such as Malala Yousafzai being shot and writing a book. And there is a list of the ancient wonders of the world. Kids will enjoy looking at the colorful pages, and finding out interesting trivia. There isn’t a lot of depth to the topics, but some topics (such as dinosaurs) get lots of pages so the student who is interested in that will be able to find many short paragraphs on that topic.

There are interesting features to this book. It contains links to websites to find out more information. There are questions that the reader may find the answer to on another page. There are nice, clear charts. Tabs along the side of the pages to tell the reader what section they are looking at. The index is helpful in finding a topic of interest. Some paragraphs mention where the information was gathered from, but many do not.

This is an interesting book that can be read in any order. Each page or spread stands alone.
