Stranger (The Change, #1)

The Stranger

Written by Rachel Manija Brown and Sherwood Smith

This book took me a bit to get into, but, once I did, it was an amazing read. There is some really juicy world building in this book. The post-apocalyptic world where some humans have been ‘Changed’ and trees that kill made me want to see what other changes were wrought on the world.

I think what made it start slow for me was the shifting point of view from the different characters, but once I got past that, I enjoyed seeing the world from each of their individual perspectives. You see that there is prejudice in the town along Changed and non-Changed lines but there’s a lack of prejudice around queerness, race and disability which made it refreshing.

I would recommend highly recommend this book. I’m glad that I picked it up.
