Special Delivery

Special DeliveryWritten by Philip C. Stead, Illustrated by Matthew Cordell

In Special Delivery, Sadie is trying to deliver an elephant to her Great-Aunt Josephine. When she discovers how much it will cost to mail him she ends up making this special delivery via a plane, alligator, train and ice cream truck. She is concerned because her Great-Aunt Josephine lives alone. This is definitely a humorous story and the illustrations add to the humor. The actual text of the story isn’t very long, so the art work helps fill in the details. It is a fun read and would be great to read out loud to a class. You could even discuss solutions to each step in Sadie’s journey. I highly recommend this picture book.
