After Dark

After DarkWritten by James Leck

This book will appeal to middle grade students who like the suspense/horror genre. The suspense and horror is mild, which allows younger readers to read it without getting too scared. There is talk of zombies and vampires as the story progresses. The story takes place in a small town which seems normal during the day, but everything changes after dark. I really liked the character Charlie. He is a goof-ball kid that a lot of students will enjoy and relate to. It was a quick read with a possibility of a sequel.
