One Hundred Bones

One Hundred BonesBy Yuval Zommer

Scruff, a stray and homeless dog, LOVES to dig. But the other dogs and their owners in the hoity-toity neighborhood don’t. So Scruff goes in search of friendlier surroundings and while looking comes across a wonderful smell— BONES— and begins to dig. What he finds is not 1 or 10 or 20, but 100 bones! Read One Hundred Bones to see how Scruff enlists the help of the other dogs to bring all these bones to the surface and have his discovery pieced together into a dinosaur! This is such a cute and heartwarming story about discovery: not only discovery of dinosaur bones, but friendship as well, and finally the perfect home for Scruff. The digitally produced illustrations are whimsical and colorful. They give a dog-eye view of the world by showing just legs and hands of the people. I also love the funny expressions on the dogs’ faces. All in all this book is a winner and one of my favorite picture books of this year. Little paleontologists and dog lovers alike will really “dig” this book!!
