Who Wants to Be a Princess?

What It Was Really Like to be a Medieval Princess

Written by Bridget Heos, Illustrated by Migy

Bridget Heos, author of Mustache Baby, takes a popular subject for young girls and tells them how it really was. Throughout the book, which is in picture book style, Heos contrasts the differences between fairy tale princesses and a princess’ life in real Medieval times. There’s a lot of humor and it’s basic enough for younger children to read and understand. Back then, being a princess sometimes wasn’t so great – with cold, stone castle walls, smelly moats, and not always a Prince Charming coming to save the day. It’s a fun portrayal of how princess life really was back in England in the Middle Ages.
