Jabari Jumps

Written and Illustrated by Gaia Cornwall

Gaia Cornwall does a great job presenting a story about facing our fears in a way that makes it easy for the reader to relate to. I like that Jabari has a goal and is confident he can succeed, but when he faces the reality of trying it is overwhelming to him. However, he doesn’t give up. His dad encourages him and Jabari takes his time to get himself ready. I cheered with him when he succeeded. The art is also interesting and has great visuals. His view looking down on the pool from the high dive is just what it’s like. I highly recommend purchasing this book for your library.
