The Evil Wizard Smallbone

Written by Delia Sherman

The book centers around a young boy who runs away from an abusive home to become lost in the woods and stumbles upon a evil wizard’s book store.Though as Nick spends more time with the wizard and the small town of Smallbone Cove he realizes there is more going on then just a grumpy old wizard that wont let him leave. We learn that there is an evil wizard Fidelou/wolf threatening the local town and it is up to the Evil Wizard Smallbone to protect the people of Smallbone Cove.
I found this book extremely entertaining to read and found myself recommending this to friends and teachers I spoke with. I think any person that enjoys Harry Potter or Percy Jackson would enjoy this book. Though I think a reader would need to be able to pay close attention as the book changes story lines and require the reader to keep track of characters.
