Plain Kate

Kate’s father is a woodcarver and she has learned that skill from him. Unfortunately, when her father dies she is not apprenticed, nor a guild member, and cannot practice her art. She is left homeless and alone, and because her eyes are two colors and because of her talent, the townfolk suspect her of being a witch. A stranger named Linay pursues her, offering rewards if she will surrender her shadow. As she struggles to survive she learns of Linay’s nefarious plans and vows to stop him and get her shadow back. The story kept me reading and had a somewhat “magical” ending.
