Hold Me Closer, Necromancer

2010 Morris YA Debut Award Finalist

Sam works at a fast food place and has grown up unaware of anything unusual about him. One night a potato hockey game with his friends goes wrong, and he catches the attention of a powerful necromancer named Douglas. Douglas gets angry when he sees Sam. Yelling at him for being another necromancer entering his territory. Now Douglas is determined to make Sam pay. Sam doesn’t take any of it too seriously until his co-worker and friend, Brooke, winds up mysteriously dead and her head becomes animated and undead. Did Douglas kill Brooke? What does Douglas really want with Sam?

A confusing, but interesting book to read. The characters are well-developed. The plot is confusing, but entertaining. Readers who like paranormal books will probably like reading this book.

Well if they are playing “Potato Hockey” I want to read it. Do they yell “game off”, and “game on” too? I will leave a much better review if I get a chance to read it!

  2. I have students that love intricate plots and especially when the paranormal is involved. Hope to have this in our library, soon.
