Ashes, Ashes

The world has ended…what comes next?

Written by Jo Treggiari

“The world has ended…what comes next?” Another dystopian novel. Seems like we’ve graduated from vampire to dystopian, doesn’t it? New York is now a series of canals after a multiple series of catastrophes, disease, weather, etc. Lucy, for some unknown reason, seems to be immune to the diseases that have ravaged the rest of society. She lives in a makeshift tent, hunting and gathering to survive. Eventually she discovers that a boy name Aiden has been observing her. She ends up with a band of survivors who are being terrorized by a group of Sweepers. As their friends are taken, they decide to risk all to liberate their friends. While they are successful in this attempt there are still many unanswered questions – sure to lead to a sequel and more adventures as these kids try to find some place to survive in a world that has been mostly destroyed. There is some romance between Lucy and Aiden, but for now they have each other. And, what is it about Lucy that makes her immune to what is going on around them?
