Don’t Expect Magic

What happens when a fairy godmother needs a wish of her own?

Written by Kathy McCullough

After losing her mother to illness, Delaney Collins is sent to live with her estranged father, “Dr. Hank,” in California. A TV personality and life coach, her father is always busy and doesn’t have a lot of time to spend with her, despite his best efforts. With mysterious, late-night visits to client’s houses, Delaney starts to suspect her father has a hidden life. She never imagined, however, that her father’s hidden life would lead her to find out that she is a Fairy Godmother who grants wishes, just like her dad. In order to get her full-fledged powers she must help her first client, Flynn Becker, get the girl of his dreams. Flynn is a boy who has a crush on the most popular girl in school, but he’s a geek who doesn’t think he stands a chance. When things seem to work out for the two lovebirds, Delaney soon realizes that she has feelings for Flynn, too. What does a fairy godmother do when she needs a wish granted? Will Delaney get her full powers or will her feeling for Flynn get in the way?

A funny, cute twist on a Cinderella-like tale. The characters are likable and entertaining. The plot is unique and well-developed. Fans of fantasy, magical realism, and realistic fiction will enjoy reading this book.
