Demolition

Written by Sally Sutton, Illustrated by Brian Lovelock

I love, love, loved this book. From the first page and the first picture I was hooked! The rhythm of the text and the rhyming were charming. The voice in it was compelling. I could use this book to teach many of the traits of good writing along with just being an enjoyable read aloud or even an act out loud story. The use of onomatopoeia is extraordinary. You can also use it to talk about community since they build a park. This book was such a joy to experience.

This looks cute, when I was young one of my favorite books was “Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel”. So every time I see a picture of a steam shovel I think of that book, it brings back memories of me as a little girl and how much I loved the library.
