The Fault In Our Stars

Written by John Green

This is a very emotionally-charged book that will tug at your heart strings. Hazel was diagnosted with Stage IV thyroid cancer at the age of 12. She was given a radical treatment that put her cancer at bay for 3 years. This is her story. She shares what it is like to live with a terminal disease and how she valiantly faced the difficult truth that her days are limited.

In walks Agustus Waters, another cancer victim who is in remission. As they tackle this difficult time in their lives Agustus sees Hazel for who she really is and helps her define what life is really about.

In this beautifully written book, John Green tackles a very difficult topic but doesn’t skirt around the fears, emotions, and the ups and downs of living with cancer from a teenage perspective. Make sure you have a box of tissues for this one.

    1. Jane,

You were the first to comment and you are at a high school so I am sending this to you!

(I’m not sure that I would recommend adding this title to a jr. high collection.)

Yet another topic that is prevalent among some of our students. A book we do not have yet, but would love to. Some great books being offered. Thanks!
