The Apothecary

Written by Maile Meloy

An intriguing story from the very beginning. The characters are likable and believable. The historical setting of post WWII gives an added depth to the story. What I liked most was the mix of fantasy genre with the historical fiction genre. The story was compelling and kept my interest throughout with twists and turns not expected. It was nice to read a story with a plot not already done a dozen times. The story raises questions in the readers’ minds of history, atomic bombs, apothecaries and magic. A great book to get kids reading more books.
