Randy Riley’s Really Big Hit

Written and Illustrated by Chris Van Dusen

Chris Van Dusen has done it again, another wonderful rhyming story! This one is about a boy genius who loves baseball and outer space. Randy can never manage to hit the baseball when he is up to bat. But when it comes to science, math, and things in outer space he’s a real wiz. One night while scanning the sky, looking through his Space Boy telescope he spots a massive fireball headed right for his town! He knew he had to come up with a solution. So he gathered the supplies he would need and took them behind the shed in his backyard and worked for days until he was done. On the day the news announcement came over the radio, “a fireball’s approaching fast!” Randy ran to the back of the shed and removed the trap that covered his creation, the mighty, mammoth robot man! Read the book for the exciting ending. The illustrations have a retro feel to them. The bright, vivid colors add excitement to the story. The rhyming text is a delight to read aloud.
