The Spindlers

Written by Lauren Oliver, Illustrated by Iacopo Bruno

Liza woke one morning to find that her brother Patrick was somehow different. In fact, she believed that Patrick’s soul had been stolen and replaced by the Spindlers. This rescue story involving a magical world seemed, at first, simple and predictable– a girl with an unlikely companion, Mirabella the talking rat, facing impossible odds to save her brother from death at the hands of the evil spider-like Spindlers. But, the real strength of the story lies in the unexpected turns of events, the loyalty of friends, and the unbeatable love of a brother and sister. I would highly recommend this book to kids who love magic tales.
