A Murder of Crows

murder of crowsFairieground Series

Written by Beth Bracken and Kay Fraser, Illustrated by Odessa Sawyer

Lucy, wished into Faerieground by her best friend Soli, and the old queen, Calandra, are dying. Kheelan and Caro are taking them to the Ladybirds in hopes of a cure, but other forces lie in wait to stop them and treachery and betrayal are nearby. I really found myself drawn into this story even though it is number 6 in the series. I kept asking myself questions such as who are these characters, how did they get into these situations etc. I found my answers in finding the first five books and then rereading A Murder of Crows. I highly recommend this book especially for older reluctant readers who are struggling with longer chapter books. The cover is beautiful and rivals any popular books of this fantasy genre. The book is short, only 95 pages, the story is written in simple sentences and the illustrations are mysterious and haunting. I now just want to find out what happens next. I love this series, Faerieground, but recommend you read the books in order. There is very little backtracking.
