Mr. Tiger Goes Wild

mr.-tiger-jacket-from-FB-pageWritten by and Illustrated by Peter Brown

Mr. Tiger looks dapper in his suit, top hat, and bow tie, and he fits right in with the other civilized creatures of the city, but he is tired of being proper. When he decides to start walking on all fours, the neighbors mumble their disapproval. When he jumps in the water fountain and comes out disrobed and roaring, he is told, “if you must act wild, kindly do so in the wilderness.” So he does. But eventually he misses his friends and comes back to the city, where he finds that everyone else has given themselves permission to be themselves as well.

Probably my favorite picture book of 2013, this is a classic story about being yourself with phenomenal illustrations. Very appealing and would make a great read-aloud. In my opinion every library should have a copy.
