Octopus Alone

9780670785155_large_Octopus_AloneWritten and Illustrated by Divya Srinivasan

Octopus is a shy fish who loves some time with her friends and also wants time by herself. The story starts in her cave as she enjoys watching the activity outside. Seahorses want to play, but she doesn’t want to be bothered so she leaves. As she searches for a place of solitude the book takes you through the ocean and the types of sea life she encounters. The text and illustrations have a clean feel and the many illustrations of sea life are fun. Some explanation of the octopus “inking” would be needed, but the theme of friends is solid. It also will let the reader know it’s ok to be together and apart.
