The Beginning of Everything

Ezra Faulkner used to have the perfect life. The beautiful girlfriend, the popular jock friends, expectation of athletic scholarships, the whole package. Until the night before his Jr. Prom when he discovers his girlfriend is cheating on him and as he is leaving the party a hit and run driver destroys his car and his leg. Ezra has lost all that he thought he cherished. He no longer feels comfortable with his athletic friends and has no hope of being Homecoming King. But his life changes when he meets Cassidy Thorpe, the new girl at school. Cassidy pulls him into her world of debate and new friendships and a new budding love. But secrets tend to have bad consequences.
I enjoyed this book very much. The writing was quick and witty and the characters were very real and likable. It explores the meaning of popularity in a high school setting and what really makes life enjoyable.
There was one scene that was a little sexually graphic that disturbed me, but it is high school and I do suppose our youth think it is perfectly acceptable. I would question having this in a junior high setting, however.
