Free tutorial and lessons on information literacy and library/research skills for high school students.
To assist students in learning library/information skills before arriving at college, Weber State University librarians collaborated with Weber County-area high school librarians to create the HeLIOS (Hemingway Library Information Online Skills) Tutorial. Using short lessons, this tutorial assists students in becoming familiar with research concepts and information resources. Some of the lessons in the tutorial include: Developing a Research Question, Finding Information Online, How to Use the Library Catalog, and Critically Evaluating Information. The lessons are in PowerPoint and graphic novel formats. The graphic format includes voice narration.
