Chu’s First Day of School

chusfirstdayWritten by Neil Gaiman, Illustrated by Adam Rex

This darling picture book about individuality is a great way to start a discussion on abilities or talents. Chu is worried on the first day of school if he will have any friends. Each student must express one thing that they love to do and Chu knows just what that special thing is. This is a great way for small children to realize their uniqueness. The pictures are very cute and colorful. Each student in the class is a different animal, and Chu, a little panda bear, with goggles and a blue knit sweater, is just plain adorable. This is a great read-aloud book for the beginning of the school year.
