The History of Money: From Bartering To Banking

historyofmoneyWritten by Martin Jenkins, Illustrated by Satoshi Kitamura

I really enjoyed reading The History of Money by Martin Jenkins. Dating back to the end of the Ice Age, people began to mobilize and enlarge their community surroundings. Before this time people just created what they needed or bartered with others close to them. But now with the expansion of civilization, needs changed. From a simple rock with a hole, to clay tablets, to opulent gold and silver coins to finally paper, money has an amazing history and this book gives you the whole interesting story. The illustrations explain the text in a very entertaining manner. The history is broken up into short chapters, yet each chapter is packed with facts. “With clarity and humor, Martin Jenkins and Satoshi Kitamura take readers on a fascinating tour of the history of money.” (front cover)
