Froggy Gets a Doggy

froggygetsadoggyWritten by Jonathan London, Illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz

This is the newest book in the Froggy series. Fans of Froggy, and new readers of the books will enjoy this story. It is one that is very easy to relate to. Froggy and his sister Polly go with their mother to the pet store. She tries to dissuade their choice of a dog for a new pet to no avail. Mom wants Froggy to be a responsible pet owner. That is a really nice feature of this book. It is didactic without being overwhelming. Kids will learn some of the things pet owners need to do when they get a dog.

This is a good story to share with kids thinking about getting a dog, or who have a pet. It’s also just a fun story. The illustrator, Frank Remkiewicz, has vividly colorful and engaging pictures. The illustrations really go well with the story and enhance the understanding of how the story evolves.
