Cleopatra in Space, Book 1: Target Practice

cleopatrainspaceBy Mike Maihack

What a fearless and fun heroine! I loved how this was worded because it brings out the fearless and spunky nature of Cleopatra’s personality which really makes reading this graphic novel fun. Mike Maihack is dead center in creating a teenage “Queen of the Nile” zapped into the future. Another one of my favorite characters is Khensu, the cat who is her teacher and also the great, great, many greats grandson of her ancient loyal and long suffering pet cat Kosey. Lots of color and action, great storyline and characters, this graphic novel is a winner. I can’t wait to read the next one.

“When a young Cleopatra (yes, THAT Cleopatra) finds a mysterious tablet that zaps her to the far, REALLY far future, she learns of an ancient prophecy that says she is destined to save the galaxy from the tyrannical rule of the evil Xaius Octavian. She enrolls in Yasiro Academy, a high-tech school with classes like algebra, biology, and alien languages (which Cleo could do without), and combat training (which is more Cleo’s style). With help from her teacher Khensu, Cleo learns what it takes to be a great leader, while trying to figure out how she’s going to get her homework done, make friends, and avoid detention!”
