Families Around the World

familiesaroundtheworldWritten by Margriet Ruurs, Illustrated by Jessica Rae Gordon

This is a lovely, colorful book, not too long, about families living in many places around the world. The book begins with a map and table of contents that are fun to read. Fourteen children in various countries tell about their family in a two-page spread with pictures to match the text. The first-person narrative tells what the children and their families do each day, what they eat, school or other activities they participate in, language, and about clothes they wear. Immigration is part of one family story. It is truly a delight to read. The book ends with a fun page about “Your Family,” some suggestions for teachers and parents, and a glossary.
