The Perfect Nest

theperfectnestWritten by Catherine Friend, Illustrated by John Manders

Cutest book ever! A cat builds “the perfect nest” in hopes that a chicken will come and lay her eggs there. He wants to make an omelet. Well, a chicken does find the nest and lays an egg. Then a duck pushes her out of the nest and she lays an egg. Then a goose pushes her out of the nest and she lays an egg. Small, medium and large eggs are in the nest. The cat is so excited: three eggs, three omelets! The cat tries everything to get the birds to leave the nest. Eventually he succeeds and his mouth is watering in anticipation for his food. The eggs start to crack and the little chick, duckling and gosling think that he is their mother. The cat realizes he has to care for the babies and then realizes that he does have “the perfect nest.”
