Unusual and Awesome Jobs Using Technology

Roller Coaster Designer, Space Robotics Engineer, and More

unusualjobsusingtechnologyWritten by Linda LeBoutillier

This is a great, current, informative, colorful reference book about jobs in technology with great pictures. It is very pleasant to look at. It shares information about 10 different types of current jobs in technology. It gives salary ranges for each job on an easy to compare text box at the beginning of each section. This section also includes a brief job description, the requirements for the job, the type of technology used, the starting salary as compared to the top salary, and about how many hours a week each job requires.

The body of each section gives a bit more information about the job and interesting insights about each career. It’s nice that sometimes the category is broad enough that the reader might find a niche that he/she is interested in within the category.

At the beginning of the book (page 5) the author explains that ROVs stands for Remotely Operated Vehicles. Then she uses the acronym again starting on page 24. It would have been nice to refresh my memory of what an ROV was that far along in the book.

The captions, facts in boxes, and bold words are really helpful. I looked up in the glossary how to pronounce nacelle (nuh-SEL).

The B.L. level is 6.1. This is a fun reference book. It would have made me excited to learn about different careers. I hope there are others on different types of careers. Linda LeBoutillier did an excellent job.
