Blue Birds

Blue BirdsWritten by Caroline Starr Rose

Blue Birds is a historical fiction book written in verse. The story is narrated by alternating the perspectives of two young girls, Alis and Kimi. The book is historically set in the late 1500’s when British settlers are mistakenly left on Roanoke Island and experience problems living near the native Roanoke people. Carolyn Star Rose writes a beautiful story of courage and friendship, but an ending decision made by the character Alis stretches reality. Overall, I really enjoyed the story, liked the characters and found the history very interesting.
