Friendshape

FriendshapeWritten by Amy Krouse Roenthal, Illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld

From the authors who brought you Duck! Rabbit! and other fun books comes this cute new book about friends and shapes. The message is great – love. The concept of the shapes being friends is really cute and creatively done.

The humor might take some explanation for little ones, but will definitely humor the adults reading it to them. This book uses some idioms, such as “bent out of shape” that adults will understand on the first reading, but it may require discussing with young readers. Little ones aren’t as familiar with someone rolling “out the red carpet”, or following a friend “to the moon and back”.

It is a cute book that will be fun to share for many years and in many situations.

  1. You had me at the words moon and back. It would be a fun read aloud if you explained all the idioms. Thanks!
