HiloBook 1, The Boy Who Crashed to Earth

By Judd Winick

This graphic novel is about a mysterious boy, Hilo, who comes crashing down from the sky. Hilo has no idea why he is on Earth or where he has come from. He meets and befriends two kids, DJ and Gina. Together they try to figure out the secrets of Hilo’s past and discover it is up to them to save the world.

5th grade student review:
I liked the book a lot, It was funny because Hilo does not understand a lot about how life is on Earth. He even thought grass was some sort of food. I would give this book 4 and a half stars because it was hilarious, but it had some disgusting parts in it as well. I loved that it was a graphic novel. I found it entertaining and I couldn’t stop reading it.
