The Heart of Betrayal

The Heart of BetrayalThe Remnant Chronicles, #2

Written by Mary E. Pearson

Lia has left young innocence for good. After watching the death of a loved one in the last book, she has had to face the world with new eyes. As she is led prisoner into Venda, she formulates a plan of survival. This time, choosing between Rafe and Kaden will not be just a mere infatuation, but one that can destroy hopes, dreams, and even lives. When Lia faces the Komizar, she discovers he is younger than she thought, but even more deadly. It is soon evident that she must meet his ruthlessness with equal force and unflinching resolve. Will she be strong enough to follow-through with decisions that have permanent consequences? It is difficult to review this book without giving away the story. Though I enjoyed the first book a bit more, I was quickly drawn in, caught up in the suspense of what will happen to these characters I have come to love. If you don’t like cliffhanger endings, wait to read this book when the third comes out. As for me, I must wait in agony, wondering which wounds will heal, and which ones will not.
