Pete Milano’s Guide to Being a Movie Star

Pete Milano's Guide to Being a Movie StarA Charlie Joe Jackson Book

Written by Tommy Greenwald, Illustrated by Rebecca Roher

If you are a fan of Tommy Greenwald’s Charlie Jo Jackson series, you are sure to like this spinoff. Pete Milano is Charlie Joe’s friend. Pete is the class clown, a goof off and who loves to tease the girls. One of his escapades leads him to hide inside a local coffee shop where he meets, Iris, a movie producer. Iris wants Pete to star in her next movie where the co-star is the ultra-famous child star Shana Fox. Pete’s friends, especially his girlfriend, Mareli, become jealous, leaving Pete with more to deal with than he bargained for.

This is a book reluctant readers, both boys and girls, will love. It looks similar to a Wimpy Kid book, with small pencil illustrations as though they had been drawn by Pete. It has a great message that anyone can become popular or famous, and that friendship is more important than either of those qualities. I liked that it even showed adults who became star struck when Pete became a movie star.
