Tumbling

TumblingWritten by Caela Carter

Tumbling follows five gymnasts as they compete in the Olympic Trials. There is a handy guide at the beginning to help you keep all the girls straight and a glossary in the back for gymnastics terms. I love this book. It deals with the struggles of intense competitors, including relationships, being true to your heart, eating disorders, body image, family function, sport politics, dealing with fans, and issues with following rules, both real and implied. I am a sucker for sweet stories and this was one of the sweetest I have read in a while. While some of the endings were tied up a bit too neatly (the girl with anorexia started solving her problems easily), overall the character development was stellar and the ending was unexpected and wonderful. It was pretty clean overall. I would suggest anyone who enjoys competitive sports and friendship stories will love this book.
