A Dragon’s Guide to Making Your Human Smarter

A Dragon's Guide to Making Your Human SmarterWritten by Laurence Yep and Joanne Ryder, Illustrated by Mary GrandPré

In Book 2 of the Dragon’s Guide series, the dragon Miss Drake is trying to guide her pet, 11 year old Winnie, in both the magical and natural worlds. She enrolls Winnie in Spriggs Academy, an elite school where both worlds are combined. Miss Drake hopes that Winnie will be safe from her devious grandfather, Jarvis, within the Academy’s protective walls. Jarvis is ruthless in his search for his granddaughter and Miss Drake must enlist the help of all her magical friends to keep Winnie safe. This main story-line takes a back seat to Winnie’s lessons in magic, confrontations with the stereotypical school bullies, and attempts to keep the magical world a secret from her mother. The ending of the book is a little weak. And though it doesn’t equal the first book’s charm, it is overall an enjoyable addition to the series.
