Secrets of the Dragon Tomb

Secrets of the Dragon TombWritten by Patrick Samphire, Illustrated by Jeremy Holmes

Set in a nineteenth-century British colony on Mars, this story led by twelve year old Edward takes the reader on an adventurous journey to rescue part of his family. Dragons, Mars, spies, dinosaurs, and slapstick comedy is a lot to fit in one book. Most of the time it is well done but occasionally it felt too contrived for me. However, most publisher reviews loved the mish-mash of so many elements. The illustrations are so amazing that I wish there were more of them. Students who like quirky fiction will enjoy this book.
