Toshi’s Little Treasures

toshis-little-treasuresWritten by Nadine Robert, Illustrated by Aki

Toshi is so excited to get a new red backpack from his grandmother! Every day, Toshi and his grandmother go for walks and collect “treasures” to put into his backpack. After each walk, they look at the treasures. Readers can match the treasures to the object that the treasure came from. For example, Toshi finds a feather and readers can figure out what object the figure came from.
This book is an endearing look at the relationship between a grandmother and her grandson and the observations they make on their walks. The artwork is simple but heartwarming. It’s nice because it takes students to places they might not be able to get to—like the ocean.

  1. This sounds like a sweet book along with ways to talk about the treasures. It reminds of the walks I used to take with my grandchildren when they were little. Thanks for the great review!!
