I Am a Story

i-am-a-storyWritten and Illustrated by Dan Yaccarino

This book explains the journey that a story takes, from being told around a Caveman’s campfire, through cave drawings, clay tablets, tapestries, and all the different ways to print, illustrate, write, and distribute a story. I loved the illustrations of libraries on the back of a camel, a book mobile, and a cruise ship library. It also describes how a story affects us emotionally by a news story over the radio, a movie theater, a play, and even on a computer screen. It includes the history of censorship, and shows books being banned and burned. Stories have been around since the beginning of mankind and we still enjoy them today. They can go with us anywhere and influence everything in our world. Excellent text with a huge, broad lesson told in few words and illustrations that enhance the text.
