LEAVE ME ALONE!

An epic tale about one grandmother, a giant sack of yarn, and her quest to finish her knitting.
A 2017 Caldecott Honor Book

Written and Illustrated by Vera Brosgol

All grandmother wants to do is finish her knitting before winter sets in. But, with all the interruptions from her large family, she has finally had enough and yells, “Leave Me Alone!” Her quest for peace takes her to the moon and beyond. But will she be back?

I can totally see why this book won a Caldecott Honor Award this year. The illustrations are so perfectly complimentary to the story, with brilliant color, bold outlines, and lots of laugh out loud humor. It has the look of an old fashion fairytale but with 21st century flair. And the grandmother’s facial expressions are priceless! This is a book that young and old alike can enjoy. It’s the perfect read aloud to share with all children. I can just hear the laughter now! With two famous author/illustrators’ (Jon Klassen and Dan Santat) endorsements on the back cover, well you just have to read this book!
