The Forgetting

Written by Sharon Cameron

If you like The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner you will enjoy this book as well. The twist is a bit different, but the book is just as good. Every 12 years, everyone in the city of Canaan forgets their past. To never lose their memories, they all write detailed accounts of their lives in books they keep on them at all times. Without their books, their past is lost and they become lost after the Forgetting. But Nadia has never forgotten, and as her city comes up to another Forgetting, she is determined to keep her family together and avoid getting caught in the chaos that will come with the event.

Nadia’s a quiet fighter – in that she doesn’t talk much and doesn’t open up easily, but she’s fierce and has her reasons for why she is that way. Because Nadia remembers, she has a different perspective on her world than everyone else. Where they’re all afraid of what is beyond the surrounding walls, she regularly sneaks out of the city. She is very careful, until one day she’s caught by Gray, the Glassblower’s son. Gray seems to be your charming hero who’s a bit of a player and an opportunist, and he proved himself as well. Watching them trust and plot together, they make a great team.

With time ticking away quickly to the next Forgetting and long held secrets begin to unravel, the intensity and danger of the story picks up. And Nadia fears that for a second time, she’ll be the only one who remembers. She is afraid that Gray will forget her and not chose her after the Forgetting. I hope you enjoy this story as I did.
