Little Wolf’s First Howling

Written by Laura McGee Kvasnosky, Illustrated by Kate Harvey McGee

Little Wolf is learning all he can from his pappa: how to find trails, how to be strong, and how to howl. Little Wolf pays close attention and does his best, but he just can’t get the howl right. His pappa, Big Wolf, is kind and patient and demonstrates the correct way to howl. Little Wolf tries again and just can’t resist putting his own twist in. Rather than correct again, Big Wolf wisely lets Little Wolf’s personality shine. The lesson here is that adults need to teach good skills and kind behavior and then let the child be his/her best self.
