Making Bombs For Hitler

Written by Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch

This is a great book to read that shares another side of WW2. Most people concentrate on WW2 from a Jewish standpoint. This book shares the experience of the war and slave labor camps from the eyes of Lida, a 9 year old Ukrainian. She is separated from her younger sister and forced into slavery. Even in the worst of circumstances she finds beauty in her surroundings and situations, as her mother taught her. Making Bombs for Hitler also follows Lida after the war and shares yet another side for those that had been prisoners of war for Hitler. As Soviets are collecting their people from refugee camps, they learn that if they worked for Hitler, even as a slave, Stalin considers them traitors and they will go straight from the refugee center to another concentration camp, or worse. Lida must stay alive and try to find her sister to be reunited with her only living family.

  1. Just read this book the other day. Could not put it down! We are never told about these atrocities that were done on the people of these countries. It all needs to be put out there in the public sphere!
