This is a fun book about a girl named Emmeline. An evil scientist kidnaps her parents. They are told to wake the Kraken, an evil monster. The evil scientist also kidnaps Emmeline. She escapes with help. She was originally going to Paris, France by boat. She meets a stowaway boy named Thing. Can Thing and she escape alive, and beat the scientist and save her parents?

    From the review this reminds me a little of the French animated movie “April and the Extraordinary World”. I’ll have to check this one out.
