Lilly and Fin: A Mermaid’s Tale

Written and Illustrated by Cornelia Funke

Young Merpups and best friends Lilly and Fin decide to play outside the safe boundaries of their underwater city. They never imagine that they are being hunted by Two-Legs. Wealthy Mr. and Mrs. Snorkel have an enormous aquarium packed with all manner of marine life. However, there is one thing they have never acquired, a mermaid. Enlisting the expertise of Mr. Ignatius Harkenear, world famous underwater detective (who has discovered the mermaid’s underwater city), they board the lightning fast submarine Sea Devil and begin their search. But when Fin is caught, Lilly must now come up with a plan to save her friend.

Lilly and Fin: a Mermaid’s Tale by best-selling author Cornelia Funke, is a great fantasy adventure with magic and humor. This easy chapter book will keep young readers turning pages to the end. Ms. Funke has also illustrated her book and those drawings add to the flow of the story of adventure and humor. The copy I read was an ARC so the illustrations were in black and white. However, the cover tells you the final book will be in color and they should be spectacular and make this fun book even better!
