The Final Spark

Michael Vey, #7

Written by Richard Paul Evans

This review may contain spoilers.

At the end of book 6, Fall of Hades, Michael Vey turns into this super strong lightning bolt, resulting in what the Electroclan assumes is his death. In this book, Hatch is under the impression that the Electroclan is dead after the massive explosion, which also killed several of his soldiers and sunk several of his boats. He thinks life is going his way, and then several things happen that show that even though Michael blew himself up, he never really goes away.

This book is broken into parts, and my favorite parts are at the end. When Taylor, Ostin and Jack see Michael in a dream as a glowing ball of light, my heart broke because it seemed that Michael really was dead. And then, Michael figured out how to become more than that glowing ball of light, and took on human form again! Hooray!! The epilogue makes me hope that there will be a continuation of the Vey story, as well as in the introduction of Michael’s father. A great ending to a series that everyone can take something from.

A rare 5-star rating from me, and I know I’ll be recommending it to grades 5-6.
