La La La

A Story of Hope

Written by Kate DiCamillo, Illustrated by Jaime Kim

This story contains only the words “la” and “zzz,” and is accompanied by beautiful illustrations. The story follows a little girl who searches high and low for someone to sing with. At one point she gives up and accepts defeat, but then she hears the moon responding to her song. Despite the limited text, I felt connected to the little girl. She lived in a lonely world and just wanted a friend. This story is about hope and the joy that comes when we find a kindred spirit.
